COLIN BENNETT has written several books, including The Entertainment Bomb, *Looking for Orthon*, and Politics of the Imagination, which won the Anomalist Award for Best Biography in 2002. Intriguing Look into the Origin of UFO's and Government Security

Colin Bennett's Flying Saucers Over The White House is a tribute to U.S. Air Force officer Captain Edward Ruppelt and his findings in the field of "Ufology." Edward Ruppelt is credited for having invented the term "unidentified flying object," which replaced the term "flying saucer." The book focuses on UFO research, UFO culture and history, alleged military cover-ups, Project Blue Book, and the Condon Report. Edward Ruppelt is considered to be one of the founding fathers of Ufology. He is renowned for his contributions in the investigation of UFO phenomena, as well as in determining whether or not there were discernible threats to national security.

Ruppelt often encountered difficult circumstances and doubters on his job of explaining UFO sightings and reports. Working with the Pentagon, Ruppelt established the new Project Grudge and authored the Report on Unidentified Flying Objects, which was based on his findings.

Ruppelt states, "We found out that the UFOs frequently visited Washington. On May 23 fifty targets had been tracked from 8:00PM till midnight." Unfortunately, Bennett concludes that Ruppelt's brainchild, Operation Blue Book, "is verbally and, hence conceptually, erased in an operation that any hard-line Soviet commissar of the time would have admired. Names and faces disappear, the stories come apart, hanging together as threads and webs as little bits go missing." This is, perhaps, the reason why so many people have heard of the term "UFO" but have never heard of U.S. Air Force officer Captain Edward Ruppelt.

The Air Force investigations revealed that the UFOs posed no threat to national security. Although people like Chieftain Samford are prepared to do almost anything to prove that the UFO is a figment of the imagination, Edward Ruppelt works tirelessly to establish credibility for ufology.

Ultimately, Flying Saucers Over The White House sheds light on the life of one man who single-handedly changed the way the government looked at concepts like security. Colin Bennett's purpose in writing the book is to present Edward Ruppelt's information to a newer, more open generation--to let it decide what it wants to believe. There is certainly enough evidence to warrant revisiting the issue. This is a must read for anyone interested in the origins of unidentified flying objects (UFOs), or in the reaction of the government toward what has become a respectable area of study.

This book covers the history of Edward Ruppelt's involvement in ufology. Colin Bennett did a fantastic job laying out the Washington DC sightings from Ruppelt's perspective. I love historical UFO books and Colin did a fantastic job.

I have been a fan of this author and this series for a long time. This author was one of the first writers of BDSM that I read. I even own a print copy of the first Connaghers book – Dear Sir, I’m Yours. *sigh* The second book, Hurt Me So Good . . . Well let’s just say that one is on my favorites list and I have read it more than once. Yours To Take, the third book, had little sister surprising us all. Oh yah! So when I heard there was going to be a book featuring the mother of these characters, I had to read it!

I was not disappointed. Virginia Connagher is one hell of a woman, and a female sadist. She swings a mean riding crop and a little blood just adds to the pleasure. Yes, this is a bit hard core in places, but not too bad. It is mostly character driven.

Never Let You Down was an unusual story in its unique presentation. I am not always a fan of the flashback, but this story benefited from it. Virginia’s husband, Tyrell, was just as important a character in this story as Jebadiah Garrett was. Since Tyrell died twelve years ago, the flashbacks were needed. It presented a fuller picture of the early relationship and how Jeb fit into it. I thought the author did a good job of weaving the past into the future for an interesting story.

Then there was the story within the story – Always Gets Her Man by Chris Waters. A very unique twist. I found that that too was another character of the story. A most interesting point of view on things.

I liked how all of the family and their significant others were also woven into this story. It was fun to see the entire family, including Miss Belle, together and see how they interacted with each other. One of my favorite things about reading a series like this. Although each book can be read quite well as a stand-alone – including this one – having the family members weave in and out of each other’s books is fun.

This was a fascinating reading experience. I could not put the book down. I had to keep reading. I adored Virginia. In a recent newsletter the author shared some “cool facts” about this book. One of them was that she pictured Sam Elliot and Tom Selleck as the male leads. That so worked for me and yep! I could see it. *sigh* Lucky Virginia! Add to that, this story was about the older generation – mid to late fifties. It gives me hope.

I really hated to see this one end. Though it did end quite nicely with them “riding off into the sunset together.”

A woman that loved two men but married one, even though her husband knew she loved her best friend.

I have been following this series since the moment that I read Hurt Me So Good. This author has a different writing style than other authors that I follow. In this story there is a woman that lost the love of her life and now she finds herself alone, as she didn't listen to what her husband had told her before he passed away. However, I love how I was able to learn about her relationship with her late husband and also her best friend. Virginia Connaghers is a tough woman but beneath her hard skin is a woman that wants to be held and the man to do that is Jebadiah Garrett. He is a man that wants to make Virginia happy no matter the amount of pain he needs to endure. As long she is happy, then he is happy.

Virginia Connaghers is a strong, dominant woman who didn't know who she truly was until that night when she was in the stables with the person who would soon be her husband. She didn't understand what was happening or what she saw him doing after she hurt him. Just when she thought everything had lined up in her life, she ended up kissing her best friend. He made her decide between him and her soon to be husband. But did she have to choose?

Jebadiah Garrett is a man that had waited all of his life to ask his best friend out on a date. Now he is divorced, and he knows what he needs to do--he needs to go see Virginia and see if after all these years he is finally able to give her the ring that he has kept in his possession. After trying to make his marriage work, he knew now what type of person he was and understood some of his actions. He is a submissive and all he knew was that in order to be happy, he needed her. She was the only person that he wanted to please.

Ms. Burkhart did a wonderful job in creating this story and the different needs that these characters needed in life in order to be happy. The emotions that I felt reading this story were many. I know for sure that I was able to connect with Virginia because of the loss of her husband. It took her a very long time to finally let go of all of her husband's belongings, just like me. Itis hard for someone to let go of something so precious, something that you could just pick up and smell, if only just a whiff of him. But I am glad that she was able to finally let go and begin to live and maybe fulfill her promise to Tyrell.

NEVER LET YOU DOWN is one of those reads that left an impression on me. A second chance at love is something that is beautiful and these are two characters that deserved it. Jebadiah is a strong man and yes he was a submissive but that didn't change anything; that just made him stronger in my eyes. What made him unique was that he was also a BDSM writer that wrote stories about strong male submissives. Then of course there is one more thing that made this read even more unique--one of his stories was featured in this story. This was a story that featured not only Jebadiah but also Virginia and Tyrell.

The passion, chemistry can be felt in Virginia and Jebadiah, no matter how Virginia acts in the beginning. Jebadiah was ready to move to the next level in their sexual relationship but Virginia was the one that was not moving, as she was afraid that if she unleashed her beast, he would run the other way. There was no way that he was going to run away from her; all she needed to do was be who she was.

I highly recommend this to readers that have an open mind to BDSM, whether a submissive is a woman or a man; all that counts is that it's consensual.

Much like the unconventional relationships highlighted in each of the previous Connagher books, NEVER LET YOU DOWN also features an unconventional way of telling the multi-layered story of Virginia and Jeb’s romance. We have a view of the present day as Jeb returns to woo the woman he’d never stopped loving. We also view the past, as all the questions about how he is inextricably linked to Virginia and Ty are eventually answered in full. And then, as the past and present wind their way around each other toward the anticipated HEA, a third voice enters the story in the form of a book within the book -- a slightly over the top erotic western romance with a more than passing resemblance to the love story being told in the rest of the book. This manner of storytelling is risky with the danger of confusing the reader, but I was able to easily keep the three portions separate while appreciating how they all fit together as closely as Virginia, Ty, and Jeb did by the end of the book. It’s a beautiful love story in all its combinations, and a wonderful addition to one of my favorite erotic romance series.

Binding is Horrible, ruins the value of the book when turning the pages damages the book itself.

This review doesn't apply to the book itself which contains useful information. However, what good is that when you can't access the information? As a few other reviews have mentioned the binding on this book is horrendous. Even going through and turning every page one page at a time doesn't do anything towards relieving the problem. As soon as a few pages are turned and then you attempt to return to an earlier section you encounter the same problem with not being able to fully open the pages. Well that's if your extremely lucky because in reality the flimsy paper pulled taunt by the binding simply rips much of the time. This review goes to the letter for the other volume as well as it has the exact same issue going on. It's so bad I can't believe that someone got copies of these books during proofing and actually approved this binding design.

Good book, I am going to buy the cents nickels dimes guide, don't expect that in this book. Overall good purchase, I recommend studying some of the basics in numismatics so don't make this your first book if you have taken up the hobby.

This is not true. This book examines how American authors represent Frank in order to negotiate difficult questions relating to representation of the Holocaust in America, and in order to consider gender, coming of age, and forms of inequality in American culture in various historical moments; and of course, to consider the ways Frank herself is represented in America. This book argues that the most compelling representations of Frank in American literature are alert to their own limitations, and may caution against making Frank a universal symbol of goodness or setting up too easy identifications with her. It will be of great interest to researchers and students of Frank, the Holocaust in American fiction and culture, gender studies, life writing, young adult fiction, and ethics.

Does have a wanna-kiss scene

I bought this book for my son, as they did watch the movie. It looks very good, however, it did have a illustration with Lava Girl puckering up to get a kiss. I am a mom who doesn't encourage this stuff with my little ones or rather doesn't want them reading such things. I know it's small but still, I wanted to warn other parents. I ended up throwing the book away because of the one picture, as I couldn't remove it without ruining text on the other side of the page.

About the Author
Kim T. Mueser, PhD, a clinical psychologist, is Executive Director of the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Boston University. His clinical and research interests include the treatment of schizophrenia and posttraumatic stress disorder and the diagnosis and treatment of people with multiple disorders. He has published extensively and lectures often on the topic of psychiatric rehabilitation.

Susan Gingerich, MSW, is a clinician and consultant with more than 20 years of clinical experience working with people who have severe mental illness and their families. She has an independent practice in Philadelphia.

Dr. Mueser and Ms. Gingerich have coauthored four books.

for families dealing with Schizophrenia

As a mother of a son with Schizophrenia, this is the most helpful book I have read. I live in the Netherlands and give Family to Family education and I have found the information clear, useful and easy to read.

Most books deal with facts and figures and the actual diagnoses and medication. This book gives helpful tips about solving problems, communication and managing stress. It also gives a realistic view of the recovery process and helps familys head off relapses.

I would also advise family members to give this book to everybody who has contact with the patient. I think its would help with lowering the stigma attached to this illness.

A bible for family members with a loved one with schizophrenia

An awesome book and tool for those whom have a family member with this devastating disease! I'm still reading it so far but it looks like a definite keeper!

If you need to know basics about the illness, resources, and practical help with dealing with your ill loved one, this is the book!
