A work of immense importance

One need not agree with everything the author of this well-researched, well footnoted, compendium states. Yet, Hugh Akins has amassed an enormous amount of factual truths towards his thesis that two "Judaisms" exist-- one that is Old Testament based, and the other Talmudic, and non-Godly. He shows an enormous respect and value for the Old Testament believer, and a fierce concern about the Talmudic Khazarists who assert a Judaic heritage by way of their bizaarely blind commitment to the Talmud. The Talmud is a work that calls the Mother of God a "hair-braider whore," her divine Son a "pig and a bastard offspring," and on and on. The Khazar claim of being descendants of Abraham Arthur Koestler and Shlomo Sands (both Jewish scholars) effectively disproved, and yet today, Akins points out, we are saddled with their viciously anti-Christ, anti-God hatred that seeks to own the earth and materialistically enslave the billions now which it believes would be better dwindled to hundreds of millions. Akins has a very serious allegiance to a Church which in some ways has failed its own Founder, yet his message of Khazar Talmudism-- read "pagan secularism and NWO"-- does not suffer as a result. Akins seeks to return the reader to the truths of that Church's Founder, which current days Khazars of the false synagogues seek to wipe off the face of the earth with control of finances, lies, and propaganda that Goebels himself could not have exceeded. Akins is careful to note that the truly good Jewish people (and there are millions) cannot be linked to the Khazars who have sought to pollute their heritage and character with their own brand of Satanism. Again, one does not have to concur with all that Akins has written. Yet one needs to research how it is that he has amassed all the data he has and see for oneself if Akins is on to something that the sheeple of this civilization simply refuse to acknowledge-- at their own peril.

An incredible document revealing decades of experimentation

While there have been many great, as well as illuminating, books on the subject of Polaroid technology, as well as the innovative culture that thrived within the company, this book is singular in that it sheds light on the years and years of artistic experimentation that put the cameras to excellent use. From the essays to the reproductions, you get a vivid sense of how artists utilized and exploited the technology to create and interpret. While not all the artwork is amazing, the book stands as a document of how art pushed technology into greatness, and vice versa.

Very Interesting Review of the Development of, Experimentation with and Foray into the World of Art

I was a Polaroid user for a number of years. My only regret is that I started too late, just after the SX-70, although I did use SX-70 film packs (with an exposure adjustment) in my Polaroid SLR600. I am also an amateur artist, and manipulated many instant prints to accentuate certain portions, and was saddened when I could no longer obtain the materials. In any case, I found the book fascinating, especially since the developments over the years, relying on chemical and mechanical innovations without the (not then available) use of advanced electronics and computers, managed to do what they did. And it was rewarding to read of the development of the large 20x24 and the very large "closet sized" cameras. I have seen the results of these mammoth devices and they are amazing. A very good read!

About the Author

Songnian Li is Associate Professor in Geomatics Engineering at the Ryerson University, Canada. He is the Chair of the ISPRS Working Group IV/5 on "Distributed, Web-based Geoinformation Services and Applications". His current research interests include web mapping and geospatial services, collaborative GIS systems and decision support, geospatial data acquisition, and spatiotemporal analysis applications.

Suzana Dragicevic is Professor at Geography Department at Simon Fraser University, Canada. She is the Secretary of the ISPRS Working Group IV/5 on "Distributed, Web-based Geoinformation Services and Applications". Her primary research interests include geographic information systems (GIS) and science, spatial data analysis and modelling, complex systems, fuzzy sets and systems, temporal GIS, web-based and collaborative GIS.

Bert Veenendaal is Professor in Geographic Information Science and Head of Department of Spatial Sciences at Curtin University of Technology, Australia. He is a co-chair of the ISPRS Working Group IV/5 on "Distributed, Web-based Geoinformation Services and Applications". His current research interests include geographic information science, geospatial analysis and data handling, geospatial web mapping and services, collaborative GIS and virtual/interactive e-learning.

Very Helpful tool for the Church

Dr. Edgington boldly speaks out on the unspoken, leading us to God’s heart on the matter of abuse. He shows that whether the reviler is male or female, sin is sin, and God’s heart is grieved while His church suffers grossly. As a woman myself, I have fought the day-to-day battle against the desire for control, and as a pastor’s wife, I have witnessed my husband being reviled by many bitter, controlling women. This book is a powerful tool that can assist church leaders as they actively participate in the call to minister the truth of the gospel faithfully, which includes calling sinners to repentance.
For the one abused this book offers practical advice, portrays clearly that you are not alone in your grief, and graciously brings a balm of comfort by ministering God’s promises to your burdened soul. I believe this book is necessary and will be very helpful to the church.

My husband and I have had the privilege of knowing Dr. Edgington for over 10 years and He has faithfully ministered God's word through preaching, counseling, and now through his written work in this book.

All Christian Counselors Should Have This

Pastors and Christian counselors you must get this! All too often we counsel married couples as if the emotions and desires of wives are infallible. They are not. Both husbands and wives need to be sanctified, but sometimes the wife needs it more than the husband, a truth all too often neglected to the great harm of families everywhere.

The Abusive Wife touches on a topic that the church is reluctant to handle. Thanks to Dr. Edgington, this need not be necessary any more. His brave and pioneering book gently holds sinful wives to God's standards and lovingly illustrates the path to recovery. Such advice may be the only hope some families have. Not only this, he offers gentle advice for both counselors and husbands on how to lovingly deal with such a wife. There is no other book like it and it is sure to set the standards for like-minded authors to come.

It gives men in this situation great hope in knowing that he is not alone

In modern entertainment today, Americans are bombarded with the idea that men can be abusive and women can do no wrong. Men are often moronic and women are ever wise, according to much of pop culture (consider the fictional characters of Homer Simpson or Ray Barone compared to their wives). Gone are the modern day Mrs. Joes (Great Expectations) in our modern casts of characters. This is so ingrained in us that it can take anyone by surprise to realize that wives can be abusive, especially when any of us men-folk enter a marriage in which we are abused. This book should be in the hands of any gentle gentleman
who wonders if he is going crazy in a
marriage in which his wife is constantly unfair, illogical, selfish, uncaring, and reviling. It gives men in this situation great hope in knowing that he is not alone. With anecdotes and Biblical references, the author gives great insight into the awful tragedy of being in an abusive marriage, and it allows men in this circumstance to know that they are not
alone. The author gives tremendous
hope for those of us who suffer at the whims of a contentious woman to suffer
well. Dr. Edgington is not the male chauvinist one reviewer implied (who, it would seem, never actually read the book). He acknowledges that there are abusive husbands, and he condemns this for the sin that it is; however, this book is written specifically for the man who strives to honor God in his marriage and is habitually met with physical or emotional abuse, as well as for pastors and/or counsellors who may be unaware that this happens. To my knowledge, there are no other books that deal with abusive wives, but as the problem is
more prevalent than one would expect, this book should be in many people's hands. Thank you, Dr. Edgington, for the hope you've given me In this book by God's grace.

About the Author

James W. Hall III, Ph.D. received a Masters degree from Northwestern University and, in 1979, his Ph.D. in audiology from Baylor College of Medicine under the direction of Dr. James Jerger.  Since then, he has held clinical and academic audiology positions at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, University of Texas School of Medicine-Houston, and the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Hall is now Clinical Professor and Chief of Audiology in the Department of Communicative Disorders at the University of Florida in Gainesville. In addition to his administrative duties, he maintains a clinical practice at University of Florida Health Science Center, and serves as a clinical instructor and mentor in the Doctor of Audiology on-site and distance learning programs. 

 

Dr. Hall’s main research interests are in the area of auditory neurophysiology, clinical assessment of auditory processing disorders and central auditory nervous system function, newborn hearing screening, and tinnitus & hyperacusis.  Dr. Hall lectures internationally on these topics. Excellent and Comprehensive

I am an audiologist and have graduated from my master's program 10 years ago. I read Dr. Hall's book (previous books on AERs) as a part of both my undergraduate and graduate degree classwork, and now have read this book, almost cover to cover for my AuD degree program. I have even had the wonderful opportunity to have Dr. Hall as a class instructor. This book is coherent, clear and very well organized. It is a good idea to stay focused while reading and not get fixated on a couple sentences that may seem to elude your thought process. By the end of the book, if you have been paying attention, you will have a clear understanding of recording techniques, rationales for use, the different "time windows" for all the evoked responses discussed, impact of stimulus and measurement parameters, subject parameters and the correlation between disease processes and reponse parameters recorded. I read this book after 10 years of NOT doing evoked response testing and there was nothing that seemed unclear. There are a couple editing errors, which if you have been paying attention to the themes in this book, and his thought process in differentiating between early vs late reponses and how they are impacted by the test parameters, you will be able to identify these editing errors yourself, as I have.

I also think those comments about Dr. Hall's understanding of where graduate students are in their ability to either understand evoked potentials or the anatomy and physiology of the auditory system are completely misplaced. I have still to meet a professor so respectful of his students, and humble and candid in his responses to even the silliest of questions. He tries hard to explain to you if you fail to understand, in a very simple language, how to interpret evoked responses. I suggest anyone having difficulty getting through this book, would benefit from a class in evoked responses and should find a mentor, co-worker, or some other resource to help them navigate this book. I am sure seeking the author out through email to resolve certain questions might not be a bad idea either.

Either way, if you want a desk reference for Auditory Evoked responses, let this be it. It isn't bed time reading for sure, but then the expectation at the level of a doctorate in audiology is that you will be required to review fairly advanced material in order to get a good understanding of the subject and be deserving of the title of doctor.

Not a practical guide

Not a huge fan of this book, honestly. I find it difficult to locate the information I'm looking for, and it really isn't a practical guide. It's more a historical perspective plus academic considerations book than what I'd call a "handbook". I have the original one, too, and thought it maybe had more practical information, or maybe I had just bookmarked all the relevant normative data years ago & forgotten the rest. This book does cover pretty much everything Electrophysiologic you might ever test, though. But it's a bit difficult to navigate. My biggest complaint is that I'd be reading a chapter, writing down some fact or another, and the next paragraph he'd say how that fact I'd just written has since been dis-proven or fallen out of favor. Aaarrrgghhh!!

Want a job? Get this book ASAP!

First, the book is an easy read. Second, WOW IT WORKS! I know a couple of people who bought Mr. Lyden's (the author) book for College Students and they said it got them a job when nothing else worked. Well after reading this book I believe it! The book's approach is simple. It is advice from someone who recruits people in this difficult job market every day so he sees what works and what doesn't. And the traditional advice doesn't work! What is in this book is fresh, new, and very practical advice that is current and up-to-date. This is why it works.

This is a very difficult job market. Now I know what I was doing wrong...I was following the same advice the same approach as everyone else. That has not and will not work. But the advice in this book does.

Those who are unemployed, and even those looking for a better job, please do yourself a favor, buy the book!

The title doesn't lie, it works!

I have used Mr Lyden's college version and I went from not getting an interview to getting an interview and a job all in one shot. It was a complete night and day switch and i couldn't have been happier with the result. Because that book helped me so much I have been a big advocator of his books. I tell everyone looking for a job that this the book you need. Its not very big and its not filled with fluff. Its filled with exactly what you need with zero confusion. That being said, my mother was not happy with her job anymore and needed a change and it had been 20+ years since she had been in the job market. Her resume was out of date, it had been forever since she has been through an interview. Overall she didn't know where to start so I tell her to buy this book and it walked her step by step in setting up her resume, how to perform in an interview and even how to go about talking about salary. This book gave her the tools to go out in a very difficult job market but not only that it gave her the courage to do so. I'm happy to say the book worked and she got a new job and she couldn't be happier. So proud of you mom!!!

A Concise Step by Step Process

A great book that tells you just what you need to know and from someone who lives the stuff everyday! Mark Lyden takes you through every step of the job hunting process from start to finish. Each chapter is dedicated to one step in the hiring process from resumes (explaining how to handle electronic screening) to applying online. Additional chapters provide insight to job fairs, interviews and how to negotiate salary and more! The book mixes a few pertinent experiences of Mark's along the way only to make a point more relevant. As a result of reading this book, I have a better understanding of how the process works in this competitive job market and realize why I need to change my approach. I plan on practicing what I have learned; putting Mark's advice to the ultimate test.
Overall, a concise read, packed with practical advice from a man in the field with demonstrated success. A must read for the serious job hunter!
