Should you 'update' your Nestle-Aland 27?

This is exactly what Nestle-Aland users would expect. Got this format because it includes the literary - but increasingly difficult to find - Revised English Bible text.
For those not familiar with NA 28, two changes are noteworthy.
First, the critical apparatus has been somewhat revised.
Second, the text has changed in a tiny way and in a monumental way. Tiny, because only a handful of changes have been made, and these in the Catholic Epistles (thus, for perhaps 99% of Nestle-Aland users there is no substantial reason to update your NA 27). Monumental, in that in the Catholic Epistles the eclectic textual method of all previous editions has been abandoned for the new approach used in the Editio Critica Maior (of which only the Catholic Epistles have been published so far), namely a method called the Coherence-Based Geneological Method (CBGM). Of course this is of concern only to those interested in textual criticism.
For most, including most pastors, the most useful Greek New Testament is probably the UBS text, 4th edition (whose text is identical to Nestle-Aland 27), or the new UBS 5 (minor text adjustments to match Nestle-Aland 28), which will serve you well for decades. Incidentally, the NRSV and REB texts are printed in twin columns on every other page opposite the Greek text, with the REB (visually annoying to me) printed in italics.
All in all a beautiful production, the result of painstaking work by generations of scholars to whom we owe a great debt.

This edition has two english translations (NRSV and REB). It however does not have the English apparatus (that which shows various early English translations), which I never used anyway. The Greek apparatus is, of course, included.

Absolutely love this, especially having two different translations from entirely different families included! I far prefer this to an interlinear New Testament, because it keeps the perfect balance of having helpful translations close by but also helping to further cultivate skills. I would recommend this to any student of Greek.
